Kevin McCarthy, in full Kevin Owen McCarthy, (born January 26, 1965, Bakersfield, California, U.S.), American Republican politician and member of the U.S. House of Representatives, who became speaker of the House in January 2023. McCarthy is the youngest of three children of a homemaker mother and an assistant fire chief father.
